Confused by the Electoral College? Walgreens run out of safety pins? Read on, get ready to amaze your friends with new found knowledge. Every four years Americans go to the polls to elect the President of the United States. Well, not exactly.Every four years Americans go to the polls to elect Electors that will then vote upon and elect the President of the United States. It is called the Electoral College and to everyone but political strategists, news anchors, and political junkies it is murky mumbo jumbo. (more…)
With each election, hope springs eternal.
Monday, November 21st, 2016 is the day the new Port St Lucie City Council members get sworn in. Congratulations to the three that won their elections.
The rule of three tells us that things that come in threes are more effective and satisfying. Jolien Caraballo briefly served as a councilwoman during Ron Bowen’s suspension. She is the business manager for a local, high-end spa. Caraballo first ran for this position four years ago. Eventually, Ron Bowen won the seat. This time around, Caraballo handily beat Bowen in the August primary. As there were only two candidates, there was no need for a November election. I had the pleasure to meet her on the campaign trail four years ago. She is smart, not afraid to dig into the details and ask questions and thinks outside the box. (more…)
Another shot heard ’round the world.
“Why aren’t I 50 points ahead you might ask.” -Hillary Clinton, Sept 23, 2016.
I initially decided not to write about the election of Donald Trump. I did not want to gloat about the black swan we saw on the horizon, or how we knew the polls were wrong. However, we here at BecauseThisMatters got it right. Back in September when Hillary Clinton was ordering curtains for the family quarters at the White House, we told you what would happen. It made you feel like Red Barber screaming, “The Giants win the pennant. The Giants win the pennant. The Giants win the pennant.” (more…)
[A guest column from a friend who provides needed answers to a movement of shamers. Shamers are those out there who feel the need to verbally bully people they disagree with in order to silence them into submission.] Today’s message is for the faith-based conservative man or woman who has been verbally battered, bullied or guilt-tripped by a friend or family member with the message that if you voted for Trump you somehow areagainst them and you are no longer welcome in their world. There is usually a radical activist in your son or daughter’s life that doesn’t have strong family ties and wants to negatively influence your children’s minds to make sure their ties to family are loosened enough to break away. Have Hillary’s Chickens Comey Home to Roost?
- To say this is an election season like no other is an understatement. The most recent events revolving around Clinton’s emails is like a never-ending saga. Like all great conspiracies, we need a pasty, a person to take the fall. The patsy in this chapter is none other than Huma Abedin. Hillary Clinton’s right hand, her second daughter (another one with zero resemblance to Bill Clinton) and possibly the person to be named as Chief of Staff in a Hillary White House.
All that might have come to a screeching halt. (more…)
